Kymberleigh Davis

Memories, whether real or imagined are uniquely powerful. My immersion in a romanticized, haunted south shaped my fascination with ghosts as well as my photographic vision. I'm interested in what is left behind and how that evokes feeling and memories in the viewer. I want to make visuals that everyone can identify with no matter their background.

My photographs are portraits of memories and evoke a human presence by the absence of any actual human form. My work started out with film and the dark room where I worked to age and manipulate the prints by hand so the the feel of age was visible immediately. Digitally, I still age my photographs but there is now a unique tension between creating digital images to look like analog that brings a new element and depth to my photographs.

I want my viewers to feel and relate and remember when they look at my work.
